The purpose of the Techflax project is to develop a flax seed fractionation process. The fractions extracted from the seed are linseed oil, proteins, polysaccharides and a series of minor components with high added value (lignans, vitamins, etc). The project aims to develop processes to recover the triglyceride fraction (linseed oil) for targeted technical uses by developing new biopolyols to produce polyurethanes (polymer materials that can be used in adhesives, glues, paints, varnishes). In addition, the non-food recovery of the polysaccharide fraction (mucilage) will be geared to developing innovative dressings, natural texture agents, moisturizing agents, etc.).
