The Beetpack project aims to develop specific grades based on polylactates (PLA) for multi-component food packaging. The packaging under consideration is composed of different units (base, lid, freshness seal, printable foil, etc.), each of which with specific requirements in terms of property trade-offs (processing, rigidity, barrier, etc.). This approach will demonstrate that all the “material” needs of the packaging can be covered using a biopolymer such as PLA.
