Objective :

The objective of this initiative is to contribute to Wallonia protein independence through the deployment of the plant-based and alternative protein, while proposing new technological solutions for industries. We aim accelerate the emergence of the sector and the creation of added value.

The main areas of work

• Encouraging the diversification of protein sources in Wallonia by highlighting the use of sustainable and competitive plant sources such as pulses and other innovative alternative sources such as microalgae or insects in the agri-food industry.
• Improving the use of agricultural or industrial by-products as protein sources
• Strengthening scientific innovation in agronomy and in the development and processing of plant-based and alternative proteins
• Studying ways of digitalising the sector
• Setting up demonstration platforms and industrial investment
• Creating specific training for all value chains in the sector
• Exploring synergy between the various players in the sector
• Promoting the value chain through participation in events such as conferences, trade fairs, etc.
