François holds a degree in biochemical engineering from the Catholic University of Leuven. He embarked on his career in 1995 in the Puratos group where he held the positions of Product and Research Manager. He then joined Beneo Orafti in the Südzucker group, where for 7 years he was in charge of product and process development for prebiotic fibres used for their health benefits or for their functionality in food formulations (inulin and oligofructose).
These two experiences give him a very broad overview of the food industry, at the interface between research, development, production and marketing — all in an international context. He then specialized in innovation and creativity management at the Catholic University of Louvain and the University of Mons. He has managed the Wagralim cluster since 2008.
