Focus 4 - Wal-Aid

Promoting competition and durability for the Walloon food industry by creating an interdisciplinary platform of different skills to encourage interaction.

The project was launched after the 4th project invitation.

The Wal-Aid project was approved within the framework of the 4th invitation to tender (Sustainable Development) in 2008.

Goals

To set up a skills platform designed to help with decision-making and support businesses in the food industry producing by-products for the market. The platform maximises exploitation of the potential of by-products generated by businesses' activities:

  • by supplying a concrete, practical service involving the preparation and validation of innovative, sustainable processes combining the generation of raw materials mainly aimed at markets connected to the food industry, but also to other sectors

  • by recovering energy from residual biomass.
