Health foods and diet supplements

The aim of this training, organised by the IUFC, the Institut Universitaire de Formation Continue, UCL, is to provide support for the development of new, high value-added "Health" products. A solid understanding of the relationship between food and health, and thorough knowledge of this area will give companies a competitive edge when facing with issues raised by legislation regarding "Health" claims and increasingly demanding consumers.

The training is certified at inter-university level by the French Community of Belgium.

This advanced training is mainly targeted at scientists in the R&D and production departments in companies which are currently or keen to begin developing "health" products.

The programme is based around the science, legislation and development techniques for new, high value-added "Health" products.

The programme includes 6 modules:

• Obesity and metabolic syndrome

• Biotechnology and functional foods
• Statutory issues
• Technological development
