Focus 3 - Biowall

Production of bioplastics like polylactides from agricultural raw materials

The project was launched after the 1st project invitation in March 2006 and will be completed at the end of 2011.

Goals

• Produce bio-packaging using PLA (polylactic acid), suitable for food products and made from renewable and biodegradable raw materials like starch or sucrose
• Develop a technology for production of PLA (licensing)
